First Night at Country Fest

Pretty House on Road Trip

Monday, June 23. Bill unusually woke up early at 5 am or so. He was having difficulty sleeping, thinking of Barry who we continually think about. Karen cooked a nice breakfast (grits, hash-browns, eggs, English muffins & coffee), as we packed our campsite to move over to the Country Fest campgrounds in Cadott, WI, 14 miles away. We decided to leave the camper at the Wissota State Park campground and first drive over to the Country Fest campgrounds to check it out since it was so close and it was not open yet, they didn’t open the gates until 12 noon. We walked our spot, then went back and moved the camper, arriving at approximately 2:30 pm.

We made our traditional Walmart stop, however, took much longer than we expected driving to it from Cadott, as it was the furthest away we’ve had to drive to get to a Walmart. We stopped at a small restaurant in Cadott, Kathy’s Diner, who advertises that they cater, and the food was a good home-style dinner. Campers started rolling in about 7 pm by larger crowds with a long line of campers in line to get through gate when we returned from Walmart, but we were able to go around the line since we had already checked in. We met Bill & Lila from MN at the campgrounds who said they’ve been coming to the Country Fest for 19 years.
