Paul & Babe at the entrance to the Trees of Mystery.

Family tree. Trees growing off of limbs.

The story.

Trying to hide in the roots.

Sign tells the story.

This one made Ripleys because of the number of roots.

Its a little dark in there.

Group of trees shaped like a cathedral.

The lift to the top.

On our way.

The view from the top looking east.

Jay helping his sister use the binoculars.

The view of the ocean looking west.

Just being cool.

Me too.

We get phone service up here.

We didn't.

Heading back down to the parking lot.

A little Horseshoe back at the campground.

Today we visited the 'Trees of Mystery'. Paul Bunyon and Babe greet you as you enter the park. The park contains towering redwoods and a number of unique tree formations. You walk the trail through the trees starting up hill and then back down to catch the gondola to take you back up the mountain over the redwoods. The hike was fairly easy and had lots of stops to see the trees so you didn't realize how far it was.

Besides the unique trees there are 50 chain-saw sculptures and imaginative stores about Paul Bunyon and Babe. The sculptures are old and not very well preserved. The trip through the trees and the gondola ride was worth the visit.
