The Olson's Retirement RV Adventures travel blog

The Mississippi.

Typical Vicksburg street down to the river.

Train Depot on the river.

One of the casinos along the river. Once a civil war battlefield.

One of a number of earthen fortifications along the river.

Looking down the bore of the Widow Blakely.

The story.

Another fortification down river.

Another view.

Inside the remanents of a fort. This is also along the river.

We drove to Vicksburg, Mississippi which is another area of civil war battles along and on the Mississippi River.

Old Vicksburg's downtown buildings have some New Orleans crossed with San Francisco architecture. It suffers from neglect, but appears they are trying to bring it back.

There are casinos all along the river. Casinos are now standing on what was once a fort and civil war battlegrounds.

We are staying in a campground of one of the casinos.
