The Capper Nomads Europe Adventure travel blog

Today we headed up the valley to Oberstdorf to go up the cable car to the Nebelhorn summit at 2,224m (7413ft) to get our first experience of the Bavarian Alps. To get to the summit we had to take three cable cars which were all the large cars and were packed with people. Daisy handled the cars like a pro although the getting on took a little bit of encouragement.

The view at the top was just stunning and there was still some snow patches around. After exploring the summit we decided we would take one of the many well marked trails down. The paths were good, well signposted and with the map supplied by cable car company we had no problem in finding our way. As we walked we got changing and awe inspiring vistas. We stopped regularly to look at the beautiful alpine flowers and for Daisy to have regular plays in the snow. Daisy we discovered is a real mountain dog- she just loved every bit of the walk.

We arrived at the middle station and just had time to explore the various view points and to spot some of the local wildlife before catching the final car down. It had been an excellent day one which we had all enjoyed.
