Waiting our turn we finally left Paronella Park in very dismal conditions. Heading to Lake Placid about 14kms out of Cairns. Arriving in better conditions[at least its not raining] we are booked in and heading to our site for the next week. We thought our last site was tight, look at this one. Is everyone impressed we are on site with no domestics. Ok I will fess up, we had help from the staff and tractor.
Cairns is the heart of Tropical North Queensland and the gateway to Northern Australia, with front door access to World Heritage listed Reef, Rainforest and Outback.
Today the sun is out and it is quite warm so we are heading into the city centre. Elaine and Blu are catching up with family. While walking around we came across the Nadoc celebrations in the park. Unfortunately the rain is back making it very wet and muddy, heading over to the esplanade the sun is out once again.
Each year tourists flock to the Esplanade to relax, eat at sidewalk cafes and watch the many bird species which come to feed on the tidal zone. In the heart of the city we found the Reef Hotel Casino a premier entertainment venue.
Tonight there is an East meets West night. For $12 per person we will be treated to an Indonesian night. Finger food, Satay chicken followed by fresh fruit. Also they will have traditional dancing, fashion parade and raffles. It was Blu and Elaines night they won the last prize of the night. A roll of toilet paper some people are so lucky lol. A great night was had by all
