Hi All,

Well we had just over 2 months at home, the windows got washed, a few plants planted, A few games of golf played, and a few birthdays celebrated so its time to travel again, this time with Barry and Lois up to Cairns where in winter its like summer, beautiful but of course busy with lots of us grey nomads fleeing the southern cold. Unfortunately is only a 5 week trip but at least its 5 weeks away from the southern chill. Also along the way we have already and probably will again meet up with friends Trev and Ros.

We have been moving quite quickly to get to the warmth with 3 nights at a place called The Town of 1770 also known as Seventeen Seventy, the 1st place Captain Cook landed in Queensland (and wait for it, in 1770). Its highly raved about by many but now, after a second stop there, we still just cannot see why, it’s just another coastal town with a beach and a river, very pretty but just another town.

From there to a “free camp” an overnight stop in an area occupied by caravans generally with no power or water and maybe a toilet but we are all self sufficient for those needs for 2 nights so not an issue. Then to a beautiful park in a village called Midge Point and then to here at Airlie Beach the stepping stone to the famous Whitsunday Islands. We are here for 3 nights of rest and relaxation and have caught up with some old neighbours (no reference to age) for lunch which was fun and good to see them again as they too are caravanners.

So for now that’s all folks
