Originally, we planned to go to Disneyland today, but Stan read on the Internet that Mondays are just as crowded as weekends. So we decided to wait on Disney and try to catch up with getting our trip pictures loaded into the journal. We were about halfway finished when we got a notice that the site would go offline in less than 10 minutes. So we went on to plan C.

On our original list of want to dos was a trip to Huntington Beach. When we made the trip to San Clemente yesterday we had crossed it off. We thought about going back to San Clemente but Huntington Beach is closer so that's where we went. There were lots of people but about 100 times more parking. Walking from the lot we were joined by joggers, skateboards, bicycles, etc. Next to the walkway they had about 20 beach volleyball courts set up several of them were in use. Beyond that was about 50ft. Of open beach where sunbathers relaxed on the sand. In the water were swimmers and probably 50 or more surfers. (Huntington Beach is known as Surf City). The scene was exactly what I picture when I think of California beaches.

We walked up on the pier and checked out the shops and restaurants. We ended up at Duke's Restaurant for dinner but only the bar was open. We decided on an appetizer expecting to move to the restaurant to order dinner as soon as it opened, but the black bean nachos we ordered was so large we weren't hungry for dinner. We walked up Main Street to check out the shops. They had some interesting ones but the abundance of bikinis, sundresses, and surfboards made it clear they were catering to 20 somethings.

We enjoyed our time in Huntington Beach. I would like to have had more time to walk the beach, etc. but we should be able to do that in Malibu in a couple of weeks.
