|We got up a little later than the day before, got everything put in its place and headed out around 10:00. Our destination is Mojave, Calif., about a 4 hour drive.
Beautiful drive through the California desert. We love the sights of the Joshua trees and the rolling mountains. Since it was Memorial Day we were not alone. Lots of traffic, fer sure. We were passed by many a truck towing a boat or jet skis. We were close to Lake Havasu so I am pretty sure that was where they were coming from. We did pass a car that was on fire and felt fortunate that we were passing it as it had just started. Everyone seemed okay as there were 3 or 4 people standing around. I am sure it caused a massive back up for the traffic behind us.
We arrived in Mojave about 2:30 and set up camp. We didn’t give it much notice when we parked that there was a fence and several trees behind us, so that meant no T.V. Rats. Note to selves..make sure we have clear skies for the satellite.
We are staying at the Sierra Trails RV Park which is only $25.00 for 2 nights on a Passport America rate. It isn’t real fancy, but the owners are friendly and the sites are not too close to each other which is always a good thing.
The wind picked up about ½ hour before we arrived and boy, did it blow. I think it is the fiercest wind we have encountered in the last 3 months. It was strange, as it blew in one direction for a while, then switched course and blew in another. It blew into the night. Toby didn’t like it at all. The sounds it made, nor when he was outside and his ears blew all over the place. It is about 20 degrees cooler here. Kind of a shock to our system. We turned off the AC early. I think we are heading for long sleeve weather.
We will head out for Patterson, California on Wednesday morning for an overnight stay.
Thought for the day:
Don’t you find it funny that after Monday(M) and Tuesday(T), the rest of the week says WTF?
