Our stay at Doug's is almost over.....(read sad face here).... We will pull out on Monday but in the meantime I thought I better make use of all the coals from the campfire and do a brekky damper.

Turned out great, slap on a bit of butter and some cream cheese and you have a feast. (Guess who forgot to pack the Golden Syrup?)

The peace and quiet out here is DEAFENING. The wind in the trees, the early morning wake up Kookaburras and the smell of the open fire, you can't beat it.

It does wonders for the stress levels and the improvement in my health is obvious (bities notwithstanding).

19th May 2013

We went into Chinchilla this morning to the local craft and produce markets. I was quite impressed with the number of stalls and even a truck selling bags of chaff. The Rotary Club was having a sausage cook off and we had a nice sausage, bacon and egg sanga for breakfast.

I also bought some veggies which I would say will last some considerable time as they were all very very fresh.

We then went up to have a look at the re-done RSL Club memorial and then back to Doug's to start packing up.

20th May 2013

We left Chinchilla around 8am this morning with no actual plans in mind. The only plan is to be in Charleville on Wednesday.

The Warrego Highway hasn't improved all that much since we came this way two years ago but they are certainly doing some road works.

We fuelled up in Roma and continued on through to Wollambilla, a little place that is good for a morning tea stop. The best scones jam and cream I have had in many years and home made shortbread and ginger snaps. Yum.

It's on through Mitchell to a place called Mungallala.

At first we were all a bit hesitant about staying in their little 4 site van park at the back of the pub as the publican was the original "grouch" but we decided to give it a go anyway. It turned out all OK in the long run.

The population of Mungallala was something like 23 and I reckon there would have been that many in the pub alone. However, they weren't locals they were all the blokes working on the roads in the district.

We all decided on the chicken Kiev for dinner in the pub but I think they should have been called emu Kiev as they were so big it's hard to imagine a chicken being that big. Nicely cooked with fresh veggies and at $14 we figured it was value for money.

21st May 2013

Rob and I did a walk around the "town" this morning which took all of 15 minutes. They seem to have a "thing" about toilets in this place, as you can see from the piccys.
