Alanna with Night Blooming Jasmine

On Sunday we walked down to Main Street about 8 blocks away, to meet Tom and Alanna at one of their favorite sidewalk Cafes for Coffee (Mocha and a double Espresso) and a chocolate roll. While Alanna went back to do some studying, we walked with Tom down to the Santa Monica Pier, Reggi was there three years ago and it had been decades since Mike was there. We found out that Muscle Beach - a well known fitness beach in Venice - was originally located in Santa Monica and was where the start of the fitness movement. Our first stop the Merry Go-Round, featured in many movies including "Dirty Harry Sudden Impact", where Tom and Reggi got in touch with their inner child. We then walked to the end of the pier where we found the "Last Stop of the Historic Route 66, not many of us knew Route 66 ran between Santa Monica and Chicago. We then headed home and passed the finish line for the Los Angeles Marathon. We headed to Culver City another Historic town, played a key role in the Early Movie industry, in fact Sony Studio is still located there. We had a wonderful lunch at Chef Ben Ford's Restaurant - Ford's Filling station. Unfortunately Chef Ben was not there, he was home working on his next cook book.
