Ludvic - the artist

Wickenburg is a lovely small town located one hundred miles northwest of Gold Canyon. The Desert Caballeros Western Museum is there - a gem for such a small community - and was exhibiting "Don't Fence Me In: Ludvic Paints The West". I had read in the newspaper that the artist was giving a talk today so Mary Jane, John, and I decided to attend.

The artist is Egyptian and has lived and worked all over the world. He didn't become passionate about Western Art until his recent move to Arizona from New Jersey. He is an impressionist which separates his art from most other western art paintings.

We arrived in plenty of time to tour most of the museum before taking our seats for "the talk." Ludvic ( shortened from his given name) is quite a character. He entertained us with stories of his youth, the people he has met and worked for - Yves St.Laurent to name one - and artists who influenced him - namely Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Rembrandt and Picasso. He is a most interesting man with a terrific sense of humor and is dedicated to his art.

We lunched at Nana's and were pleased with our selections. As we walked around town we noticed statues in the street . On a nearby wall there would be a button to push that gave the oral history of the statue. Very cute idea. We returned to the museum and finished up our touring of the exhibits before heading home. An hour and a half each way was a small price to pay for such an enjoyable day.
