Monday September 17
It was time to leave South Wales and head north to Wrexham. After saying goodbye to Robert at the B&B (Julie had gone to work), we called at the bungalow to load Mum’s wheelchair into the car to take north with us. Heather’s cousin Tony has agreed to sell it for us on e-Bay. We said goodbye to Colin and Jeanette and left the key to ‘Sunfold’ with them before briefly stopping in Cardigan to see the estate agent, and buying petrol and picking up a picnic lunch.
We drove up the A487 to New Quay for lunch, where we sat in the sun overlooking the harbour and munched our sandwiches. It was sunny when we arrived and started to drizzle just as we left. Our next port of call was Aberaeron where we had an appointment with the family solicitor to discuss the sale of ‘Sunfold’ and other financial matters. Then we were off to North Wales.
Our trip was for the most part had good weather and we had a lovely drive through Snowdonia National Park and along the shores of Bala Lake. We arrived at our usual lodgings (the Premier Inn at Gresford) late in the afternoon and were able to relax a little before we joined Heather’s brother Robert (he had taken the train from Scotland during the day) and cousin Tony, his wife Leah and son Ryan. We all had dinner together at the Beeches (the restaurant attached to the Premier Inn). It was another opportunity to catch up on news and spend time together.
