Ken and Liz on a bike travel blog

Hello to all,

We are Schleswig, Germany, and taking a well-earned (we think) day´s rest. Schleswig and the neighboring town of Haithabu is the oldest city in Northern Europe, dating from the Vikings. We visited the Viking Museum in Haithabu - they were active boys and girls!

Our route since leaving Voorhout in the Netherlands has taken us over the Zuider Zee, a 25 km dike with MONSTER headwinds and a major engineering feat in itself. We have crossed Northern Holland, into Germany and across the Elbe River, to Gluckstad, Hamdorf and now Schleswig. Most of the towns we pass through aren´t on the Map Manager to share, but I am keeping notes for the curious.

We are both healthy and well. We are on schedule - sort of- and the bike is running smoothly. The weather as been ...variable, and the forecast is for clearing. We remain eternally optimistic, hoping to put the rain gear away and keep it away!

We expect to be in Denmark in three days - we are Northward Bound!

Hope this finds you all well and enjoying the summer.

Love,

Ken & Liz
