Al and Sue's Great Adventure travel blog

July 22, 2012

I am writing this blog sitting in 1st Class on the Thales high-speed train from Paris to Amsterdam—sipping a nice Rose. Susan will never be able to retire—she is getting pretty comfortable with a certain style of travel---she thought that the wine was a little thin. We will be getting off in Brussels and catching an inter-city train to Brugges. I turned on my GPS—it appears that we are traveling at 300kms/hour—it prompted me to switch from the walking mode to the automobile mode.

This morning we trained from Le Rochelle to Paris. Our Inn Keeper at 6:30 AM drove us to the Station—they would not let us pay the exorbitant amount that a Taxi was going to charge us. We were so well treated at this Hotel—this is the 2nd time we have been there and hopefully we can end up spending another week there next year. (www.jardins-du-lac.com). This was a recommendation by Hennie who has helped us organize our bike trips and we would highly recommend.

Lorne—thanks for putting us on to the Paris City Line Company. They met us at Gard Montparnasse and moved us to Gard North—great service.

On our trip to Paris we must have seen a 100 Wind Turbines and we saw one Nuclear Power Plant and we saw another 50 Wind Turbines and another Nuclear Plant and the way to Brugges.

We have now arrived—1st impression—unbelievable—more to come tomorrow-- hopefully with some pics—will try and find a replacement cable tomorrow.
