We were in a lazy mode and left late morning to head towards Lake Superior. We took Highway 63 north, a scenic route through cornfields, small unincorporated towns, mountains and lakes.
We stopped after traveling less than 150 miles. Nice, not to have to rush anywhere and take our time. We found a campsite on Lake Nelson just outside the town of Hayward. Our only complaint about the campground was the annoying Deer FLIES. Worse than mesquitoes in Minnesota and/or Alaska.
Hayward had a WalMart so we stopped for groceries. Groceries may last a little longer now that we don't have two hungry boys with us.
Lake Superior is only a couple hours drive from here.
