Last night we stayed at a campground near Seneca Falls – a Passport campground, of course. On Friday, we decided to use one of our “extra” days to stop by Camping World. I wasn’t comfortable with my coach battery charge, so I wanted that checked and Nancy had a screw loose (ahem) on her outside door and had lost the handle on her grey tank valve (probably somewhere back on I-70 in Indiana). So after three hours and $400, we got on our way.
Nancy wanted to stop by a small town called Fairfield to see where her great, great (?) grandfather had gone to medical school. My GPS took us on a rather “scenic” route, but we finally found it and came across a few monuments. The school was founded in 1812 as a medical school, the second medical college to be chartered in the state of New York, and the 11th in the United States. It was later reorganized into a “Classical Academy and Female Collegiate Institute," with a teacher training and college preparation curriculum. It was one of the first female colleges in the country (1839).
Friday night we stayed in Cracker Barrel’s parking lot – had dinner there and breakfast the next morning – blueberry pancakes with blackberries and raspberry syrup. Mmmmmm!
