We had a great view from the rooftop of our hostel

One of Diego Riviera's murals

Mexico City is huge and we only had one full day to look around so we thought that going on a bus tour of the city was the best way to see as much as we could. It wasn't until we were on the bus that I wish we'd allowed more time to look around. Mexico City has it all - great food, great buildings, and lots of stuff going on. I think the highlight of my stay there was seeing Diego Riviera's works. Unfortunately, most museums were closed on the day Zoe and I were in Mexico City so to see some of Riviera's paintings was very special.

Mexico City is said to be very dangerous and we were warned by many people not to go there, but I think if you are sensible and careful and a little bit street-wise, things should be fine. Of course there is going to be a bit of crime in a city that has a population of 22 million, but to avoid this city because of something that MIGHT happen would be very unfortunate. There's just too much to see there.
