Looking out at the view

Great view Mum better than those rocks

Today we headed to Brimham Rocks. These are a collection of weird rock formations caused by the Millstone Grit found in Yorkshire being eroded by water, glaciations and wind, most of which have achieved amazing shapes. We wandered round these strange formations and were amused by some of the names given to them such as Dancing Bear, Anvil etc.

The other benefit of visiting the rocks was the great views of the surrounding countryside and we could almost see York Minster as it was quite a clear day.

After lunch we headed to Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden. However we had had enough of old abbeys so we enjoyed a wonderful walk around the various lakes of the gardens in the warm sunshine.
