day trip North of Cairns sunny upper 80s

Drove N to Daintree NP along a scenic ocean road, then a short ferry ride across the Daintree River (no swimming - crocs - big ones!) We were lucky with the weather - usually this time of year, the roads are closed due to flooding, rock slides...They get a lot of rain up there during this rainy season. Today was a beautiful sunny day so we were able to drive all the way to the unpaved road to Cape Tribulation (4wd beyond that).

The Mossman Gorge section of Daintree NP is a little S - suspension bridge, hiking trail through the tropical rainforest (trees are huge), nice swim areas along the river (no crocs here).

Port Douglas & 4 mile beach - Because of the stinger (jelly fish), a swim area is netted off.

Hugh thumderstorm in the distance - beautiful storm clouds over the ocean.

A rainbow to follow back to Cairns.

Tomorrow evening we leave for 4 nights/3 days of diving in the Great Barrier Reef on a dive boat.

1 week already --- only 6 weeks left.
