Exploring the Rainforest

4 Mile Beach at Port Douglas

Only 15, 000km from home!

Picked up our capmnpervan, and headed north to cape tribulation (so called due to the trouble Captain Cook and the endeavour found themselves in thanks to the local reefs). The RAINforest in these parts has definitely lived up to it's name in the past few days, despite this supposedly being the dry season. The weather is positively British at the moment, if a little more humid. Visited a couple of the rainforest walks but all of the wildlife was sheltering....as we should have been. There's some nice mountainous rainforest plunging right down to beaches and mangroves, which make for nice bounty advert postcard shots when the sunshines, but not today!. Moved on in the afternoon to the rather upmarket marina town of Port Douglas and had a wander around. Nice views of the bay below (4 mile beach). Headed back to cairns for the night.
