George's Round The World Trip Journal travel blog

Koh Tao is the island where Christine and I decided to take our Open Water scuba diving certification and I am so glad that we went here for it. There are a lot of schools here but we were recommended to go to a place called Master Divers and they were so amazing. They are rated as the #1 diving place in Koh Tao and I would recommend to anyone thinking of getting their certification to go here to do it. The marine life and the coral here is so amazing and compared to prices back home for getting certified, this place is pretty cheap. It's actually run by a lot of people from all over the world (but mostly from England) and we were able to get an instructor for just the two of us because it was low season :-). It took us four days of studying and diving and we ended up even getting a few extra "fun dives" thrown in. I am now open water certified and can now dive up to 18 meters underwater. The deepest dive I did in Koh Tao was 14 meters and I don't think snorkelling will ever be as thrilling any more as diving has opened up a whole new world for me to see. Most of the pictures I have of Koh Tao are from diving and obviously were done by Master Divers as you need special cameras to work at depth. I took a few photos from one of the DVD's I purchased and put them online. You can access these pictures here.
