20,000 leagues under the sky, 2004- travel blog

Pleasant journey home, Cathay from Cebu to Hong Kong in Business class ticked a new box for me - upstairs on a Jumbo. It's a lot smaller than I expected but with only one seat on either side of the aisle, and a flow of champagne I can handle that sort of travel. Checked bags through to London which meant that we only had to carry our hand luggage into Hong Kong. We had booked a cheap room in Hong Kong to be able to shower and freshen up before the long flight back to Heathrow, typical of my luck the hotel was chaotic and disorganised so gave me an upgrade to a suite - which I never got to sleep in. Virgin Atlantic Upper Class flight back to London was long at over 12 hours but uneventful, listened to a few tunes then watched Pirates of the Caribbean before sleeping much of the way back with the odd frequent i-map check on our position.

One problem with business class is that it concentrated all of the egos into one area and we did have a few princesses and general knobs in the cabin.

I now have one month before I have to do it all over again and head back to Shanghai and deepest darkest China.
