We picked up our car around midday and started our journey to the Gower peninsula in Wales. The staff at the hire company were shocked that we planned to drive to Wales - 4 hours driving in one day! We got to Swansea around 4pm and started looking for a camp ground. We found an amazing sight - on a cliff overlooking the most beautiful deserted beach. After setting up we went out for a drive to find some dinner before having an early night in our not so well insulated Tesco tent.
We decided to stay in Wales for an extra night so we spent the 29th visiting local sites like the Oxwich Castle, Rhossili beach (5km of deserted golden sand and a tiny island that gets cut off from the mainland during high tide), Port Eynon beach (where we decided to go swimming without wetsuits to the amazement of the local life savers) and for a walk around the Three Cliffs beach. After a long day of wandering along some of the most beautiful beaches in the world we decided to have another early night so that we could leave early to get to Coventry the next day.
The 30th we were up at 530am to get on the road to Coventry to visit Brendan's great aunty and uncle. We arrived in Coventry mid morning and spent some time visiting before heading into town to see the sights. We visited the old cathedral that was bombed in WWII and wandered past some of the only remaining medieval houses. Afterwards we had lunch in the main square before visiting the motor vehicle museum. That afternoon we went back to Tommy's for an early dinner before making our way back to Luton for the night.
The 1st was another early start as we had an 8am flight to Belgrade.
