Calhoun Trip to Oshkosh By Gosh August 2011 travel blog

The big rig we used on last part of trip

We made it home to Martinsburg tired, homesick and anxious to eat, sleep and be merry in our home.

Following are just some points of interest of our trip: Total Distance: 2,500 miles Total Fuel Consumed: 313 gallons: (Lucy likes to consume fuel) and averaged 7.74 Miles per gallon.

Price of fuel ranged from $3.85 down to $3.39 by the end of the trip.

Number nights away from home: 16 nights.

Did we have fun YES

Will we do it again YES

We hope you enjoyed our Journal, I enjoyed keeping it up and it is something we can look at years from now and smile realizing we were living our dream, or at least part of it.

One discouraging thing for me - When I requested a senior discount at the parks, restaurant, etc, no one, not one single person asked me for identification to prove my senior status.

Thanks to Nelson for the 50' wildfire hose, we needed it at least twice during our trip for hooking up our water supply to Lucy. Thanks to Sharon for her hospitality and a great reason to go to "Oshkosh by Gosh"

PS: We got home about 1:30 PM on Monday and apparently we were in seperate rooms when the earthquake struck about 2 PM. I had just turned on the upstairs A/C unit when I HEARD a thump and saw stuff swaying in the bedroom. Cindy was at the kitchen sink and said she felt the affects for about 10 seconds or so. No damage, but what a finish for to our wonderful trip.

See you next time.
