Gary and Lola's Vacation West travel blog

Another long day of driving across the remaining South dakota prarie into the green farmland of Minnesota. Saw signs of much flooding in the fields of SD.

Stopped for the night in Ladysmith Wi. near Rice Lake. Americinn again and very nice room.

There are two AmericInn's here across the street from each other. I asked the owner of the one we are staying in why this was, she told me that the previous owner of this unit sold it to them as he was in financial problems. They have the Americinn franchise, but Corporate AmericInn decided to compete with them and build a new motel across the street. If you come here stay in the one on the East side of Rte. 27.

We have 588 miles to get home and will get up early and try to do it. We are taking the North route over the top of Lake Michigan through St. Ignace and home on I-75. Looking forward to our own bed.

Weather has been good and we have had a safe trip without seeing any accidents, or close calls with critters. I told Lola we can go to the Detroit Zoo next month and see what Moose, bear and Elk look like.

No new photos today, took a few of Lola and Lila and will post them later.
