Another exciting day of exploration - the Dells of the Eau Claire River. From the moment I opened the car door I could smell the pine scented fresh air . We watched the kids jumping into the water from the high cliffs and then we took off on the woodland path for a hike along the river. Mary Jane told me the names of the things I photographed - the fungus, the black velvet winged flying things, the flora and fauna - do you think I can remember what those names were? - Nope - I'll have to ask her in the morning before I leave.
On the way to visit friends Russ and Linda, John drove by the first and second homes that he and MJ lived in before building their present beautiful abode.
This evening we had dinner at the Pinewood Supper Club. From our table by the window we had a panoramic view of the grounds with colorful gardens and the lake in the background. Truly a delightful setting and the food was delicious to boot!
We took a nice walk around the neighborhood before it got dark and then we came in and talked until 11:30 - definitely time for bed. I leave early tomorrow morning for Chicago making some stops along the way.
I am so glad I came to Wausau- not only because I got to experience this very interesting town but because I got to spend so much time with Mary Jane and John. They have been fantastic hosts. Spending time with them here has allowed me to know what their life was like before retirement , where they worked and where they play. It's been a delightful couple of days!
