Our first day on the island saw us heading west from Cavendish. Our first stop was the west area of the Prince Edward Island National Park. Here we explored the dunes and looked at the stormy sea. Close to the lake of Shining Water we watched a pair of Canada Geese with their goslings. There was also a number of loons resting in a nearby tree.

From there we continued along the coast exploring many of the typical inlets of PEI along with the inevitable potato fields and red soil. We also found a number of unusual churches.

As the weather started to close in we headed back to base stopping at one of the many tea rooms. Just after we got back to the coach the heavens opened.
