Left the camp early this morning to head over to see the California coast. We headed up HWY 101 aways and then headed west toward Stewarts Point, CA. The road was about 60 miles long and had more twists and turns than the road to Yosemite. We drove past Lake Sonoma and through some deep redwood forest. Great views, but I was glad that there was not a lot of traffic because some places had room for only one car. When we finally hit the coast in Stewarts Point the ocean was beautiful and I was happy for the driving break. We headed south down HWY 1. Now I thought highway 1 was a nice easy road that followed the coastline, not so easy. It too had ups and downs and curves. We saw lots of beautiful coast, stopped and had a great lunch at Lucas Wharf at Bodega Bay. We then headed east along Bodega Hwy toward Santa Rosa. We stopped at a winery for some tasting. Nice wine -but not worth $44 a bottle. We finished the trip back through Santa Rosa and North on 101 back to camp. Now preparing to leave in the morning. Not sure where we will stop as we head to Harris State Park just into Oregon on Sunday.
