George's Round The World Trip Journal travel blog

Well, I decided to get up early and I wondered all over Mexico City. I met a few new people at Hostel Amigo and decided to travel with them. I'm glad I did because I don't believe I would have seen quite as many places all in one day (my feet are quite sore so I may have to buy better shoes). I even ended up taking the train system in Mexico a few times to a few touristy places like the zoo and a few museums. Mexico's trains are easy to navigate on and quite affordable (about 3 pesos / trip). I did take pictures but I'll probably upload the bulk of them in a day or two.

I also tried a few random street food vendors and both choices worked out quite well. I don't really know what they were called (or exactly what was in them) but the food was great :-). The funny thing is, even though most of the prices that I see seem quite cheap, we quickly figured out that we are still paying more for things than the locals. Not that I mind too much because I just ate dinner today for about 15 pesos...which isn't much more than a dollar back home. Most of the food I have eaten so far has a bit of a spicy kick to it but it's not overdone.

Tomorrow, I plan on getting up early and heading down to some Aztec ruins/temple outside of town (about 50k). We figure it will take us about an hour to get there and back using the local bus system. It's way cheaper to do this than to schedule a tour with the hostel so that's why we decided to do it this way.
