Hi everyone
Well a lot of time has passed since the Galapagos - have been very busy in NYC. Weather has been great most of the tome but rain is due tonight for the rest of my time here
Leave Thursday 19 for Toronto for a few days before going to London
As usual New York has been great, although I am definitely not travelling as well as I used to. Maybe something to do with age! My bak and leg have been playing up and making getting
around more difficult
So far have been the a couple of museums - The Met, MOMA, The Cloisters and The Frick. As well yesterday I took a train about 1hour 15min north of New York to the fabulous Dia Beacon Museum which has
3 works of my favourite sculpture Richard Serra as well as some others new to me. It is an amazing place, huge old warehouse and the works in it are mostly gigantic. Mary I think Susanne recommended it to me years ago.
It's a very picturesque journey along the Hudson River as well. The Met also had a very good exhibition of Serra's drawings. Eat your heart out Barbara!
Have seen a few shows. Good People with Frances McDiamond last night was very good, but Tom Stoppard's Arcadia starring Billy Cruddup was a little beyond my understanding. Saw a great show of the
New York City Ballet, and had a good night at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola a couple of nights ago listening to the Juilliard Jazz Orchestra. Tonight I am going to The Met Opera to see Ariadne auf Naxos, tomorrow to War Horse and Sunday to Carnegie Hall
for a performance of the NEW York Philharmonic
Have decided to spend a few extra days here before going to Toronto. That's if the odd bods from Family Radio are wrong and the world doesn't end on May 21st - they are all over town with banners -if they are right it's been great knowing you all!
Apart from all the culture I have been wandering the streets soaking in the atmosphere. Spent time bike riding and walking in Central Park. Haven't done much shopping apart from a pair of shoes and some cheap undies.
Also went on a guided walk through Harlem and one around the Flatiron district where I discovered a fantastic Italian Food Centre and the only good coffee I have found here
Lots of Aussies here - must be something to do with the strong $
Must head off and get ready for the next engagement
Regards
Pam
