Tug of War

We travel to Thornfalcon and meet up with Martin and Suzanne – lovely to see them.

Martin drives us north to Flax Bourton where we attend the North Somerset Agricultural Show. We are astounded at the number of people attending – the queue just for the tickets goes for miles (a slight exaggeration).

What a great day we have – horse events, horse and carriage competitions, wood chopping, dog obstacle courses (did enjoy that), tractor pulls, old vintage tractors (guess who enjoyed that), livestock, hay carting competitions and a whole host of other things including a retail sector but, surprisingly, virtually no sideshow area (just a few things for the very young kids).

The organisers would have to be happy at the turnout – I know the various show societies in Tassie would kill to have such numbers attend.

At the end of a very satisfactory day we return to Taunton – very glad we were travelling south as the traffic heading north was bumper to bumper after the long weekend.

We briefly call into the Taunton cricket ground – the home ground of the Somerset Cricket Club – to see the ten minutes of the one day game on.

We meet up with some friends of Martin and Suzanne and join them for dinner at the White Hart.
