There she blows

At Punakaiki we were booked into a charming beachfront cottage with views across the Tasman Sea. The area is famous for the pancake rocks formed 30 million years ago. They are limestone rocks that have been sculpted by mildly acidic rain, wind and the sea. For our dinner we wandered over to the tavern which was crowded and rustic with a log fire going before heading back to the cottage to watch the Royal Wedding. We also ventured out once it was dark to view the night sky. As there was no light pollution the sky was a mass of brightly twinkling stars.
