|We left Indio on the 25th and headed east on Interstate 10. One of those places we've driven past so many times, is the General Patton Memorial Museum. This time, we decided to stop and are so glad we did. That was an interesting visit. Patton had trained troops all over the California/Arizona desert to prepare them for the battles in North Africa. The museum is packed with artifacts, way too many to see in one visit. The grounds surrounding the museum are covered with tanks and other types of armored vehicles. The museum also has free, dry camping available, so one can park amidst the tanks, in the desert. That's something to remember if we're ever that way again.
