Terrific museum in Wickenburg

I reunited with Cheryl and Les Mahaffey today . They were in Carefree for a two week Lutheran retreat. We originally met at Sanford when Cheryl was assigned the room next to Tom's on the stroke rehab floor. I couldn't get over the progress she has made regarding her speech. She spoke with no hesitation and with command of vocabulary. So different from when I saw her last - over a year ago. After making marvelous progress, she developed severe leg pain six months after her stroke. She is attending a pain management clinic in Sioux Falls but so far they have not been able to find the magic formula that will give her some relief. Strokes are nasty business!

Les is his usual upbeat self. God bless him for being such a loving, caring husband. You don't have to spend much time with the two of them to realize the bond that has been made through the years of a devoted marriage. They have three absolutely lovely daughters. The girls and their families are a great source of happiness and encouragement for Les and Cheryl. It was a joyful time today - catching up on news, sharing feelings , and exchanging hugs.

After saying our goodbyes, I decided to drive 40 miles down the road to visit a museum in the really adorable town of Wickenburg. They are getting ready for a special exhibit in the art museum section so that was closed today. Admission prices were adjusted accordingly . I still found it to be a worthwhile side trip. I stayed nearly 2 hours before hopping on the highway for the long drive home.
