|On the 23rd we made a long journey to the Malaysian border, involving a ferry, 2 buses and an 8 hour journey on a night train without a bed! It was pretty hard going but quite interesting as well as we saw the peoples culture change around us. The south-eastern provinces of Thailand are mainly muslim compared to the Buddist majority of the country. There has been a fair amount of trouble in the area over the last couple of years and it's not really a tourist destination. We hardly saw any other westerners making the journey but we had no trouble, in fact everyone was really friendly and helpful and the border crossing the next day was the easiest I have had by far.
