At the campsite...

Staying at Tanarakka campsite in our van, 4km outside of the gorge. Really pretty, quiet and kangaroos bouncing around! Sat by the campfire with a group listening to one of the park rangers, at 5.00 pm it was sunny and warm but by 5.45 it had dropped to about 4 degrees! Spoke to an Aussie couple for a while, turns out they used to live in Rochdale in one of the seven sisters!

Back for a gourmet dinner of instant noodles and beans. Found it difficult to find the van as there are literally no lights around for miles, just stars!

Up early, a boiling shower to melt the icicles , then headed to start our ramble down the gorge. The walk is made up for 22 gorge crossings and we were first going to stop midway as recommended by the guide but decided to challenge ourselves. 14 miles later we finally got back to the van, with aches, blisters and starving bellies! It was a really nice walk though, saw some aboriginal art which was eye opening and some kangaroos in the wild etc (photos to come). It was a really tough walk but apparently we are deemed "physically fit" by the Queensland government so that is good! A powered site with heating this night so no icicles!

No chance to download any new photos here, so you will have to wait!!

Hope everyone is well and keep the emails coming,

Richard and Julia
