We are up on a Sunday morning and decide to pass on a hotel breakfast, instead going into Nancy to scout for a much-needed Laundromat. We find one and then, Linda sees a lovely little patisserie where we enjoy fantastic croissants and coffee before walking, while the washing finishes.
We know Nancy’s old city is close by. We come upon a classic car meet in the middle of a park – and there is a traveling circus there as well. We keep walking and Voila, suddenly we come upon the most dazzling square, with ornate buildings, wrought-iron and gold gateways, and rococo fountains. It is the Place Stanislas – yet another Unesco World Heritage site! Most of our pictures for today are from there.
We drive from Nancy to Metz, the capital of Lorraine and check out the local Kyriad, very over-priced so since there is time we decide to do a bit of research and check out five others – the Ibis wins although it is a bit out of the way. We return to Metz and walk around the Cathedral area and the old city, before returning for an evening meal at the hotel.
