We spent the night last night in a truck stop just 100 miles into Texas at a place called Van Horn (mile marker #140). There are 880 miles to travel on Highway 10 in Texas, so we've only about 700 more miles to go! Steve says we're averaging about 40 miles an hour. He drives about 70 to 75 and I cruise along at about 60. We headed out this morning from Van Horn, towards San Antonio, making plans to see my friend, Deeney Lego, in Boerne, Texas. I had Monaco ship a pair of windshield wipers to her house for us to pick up. In the mean time we've been in the mood to go out dancing, so after some investigating, we're going to spend the night in Bandera, Texas - Cowboy Capital of the World! We called and there are about 6 bars/dance places there, and most have live bands tonight. We're hoping to get there in time to park the bus somewhere so we don't have to drive or unhook the car. Much like we do at the Swallows of San Juan Capistrano. We'll be meeting Deeney for dinner and then some dancing and honky tonk. Steve's driving right now, he's done most of the driving. We stop every now and then at a rest/picnic area and go for a walk, make a few phone calls, take some pictures or just stretch. Right now, we're driving through a major Monarch Butterfly migration area. There are thousands of them for miles. More Later.... We stopped at a picnic area and I jumped on the Townie Bike and rode it down a few exits on the freeway... felt so good.
