Ron & Elena's 2007-2010 Travels travel blog

Seligman, AZ is another town that lives almost entirely off the old...

One of about 1,000 Route 66 T-shirts available in the several souvenir...

Da Honu enjoyed a rest stop too.

Another souvenir shop.

Note all the shady characters on the front roof.

Elena got to visit with a couple of them by this old...

This cabbie has been waiting for a fare for a very long...

And these two have been working on their truck for even longer!

(Ron Writing) We left Kingman this morning and headed east on I-40. We had a pretty stiff headwind and also quite a climb before we arrived in Flagstaff which is at about 7,000’ elevation.

Along the way we took a short side trip on Route 66 to Seligman, AZ where we had lunch and walked around town looking at a few of the tourist traps. Route 66 is popular with motorcycle riders and there were many of them in town for lunch today when we were there.

We arrived in Flagstaff early this afternoon. It’s nice and cool and the air is so clear that the bright sunshine almost hurts your eyes. I guess we got too accustomed to the smog filtered sun in southern California! There really is a very noticeable difference.
