Open campsites overlooking Tin Can Bay. Hayden and Grace out on their bikes and collecting wood for campfire before breakfast. Pretty spot but armour-plated mozzies and squadrons vicious midgies. Apparently it is the norm here and everyone covers themselves in Deet repellant. Spent day around campsite. A fisherman gave the kids some fish to throw to the pelicans. Wathced a stingray and the waters edge. Daniel thrilled to have some computer access again. De-salted the car again, loads of washing. Beautiful sunset over the water.
Found a track to Carlo Sandblow in early morning but ended up nearly being a half marathon and limped home. Found we had been so spoilt by Fraser (with its sand blows and coloured sands) and not wanting to beach drive since washing car under-body again. Decided that we would not all go for a look later in the day. Kids spent day playing with other kids in campground. Late morning, we realised that we had LOST one of our credit cards. Spent next couple of hours re-tracing our steps and called the bank to cancel our cards.....Our only access to cash....and of course the start of a weekend ....and no bank nearby.....
Checked the other campground in town but very crowded and 'no go'.
Decided Rainbow Beach is a good stopover for tides or clean up only. Rainbow waters, where we stayed, is spacious with good views but no direct swimming and a blood bank under every tree.
