We drove a long way today, farther than we had planned but we changed our destination to save a few bucks on our campground. We are enjoying a beautiful campground on the Mohawk River near Schenectady, NY. It has a marina along with the campground. This is our last night of camping on this trip.
In our travels this past year we've stayed in houses only three times for a total of 6 nights. We've been gone for 339 days so that means we've been in our RV for 333 night. Amazing!
Most of the time we have slept really well. I remember hearing trains every ten minutes traveling along the Columbia River in Oregon and the wind howling in Gallup, New Mexico. Then there were the coyotes at dusk near Tucson, Arizona and the sound of surf when we were camped just on the other side of a wall at a beach in Santa Barbara. We've always felt safe and when it was hot we had the air conditioner going.
Each morning I put on the coffee pot, carefully monitoring our electricity use if we don't have 50 amp service. The coffee pot takes 9 amps so if the air conditioner is on and we have 20 amp service, I have to turn it off to make the coffee. With a mugful of coffee to get us going, we're ready for another day.
But it is all coming to an end, this great adventure of ours. We'll be back in our house tomorrow night. It will seem huge. Somehow I've got to figure out how to end the story of this amazing trip with my last entry tomorrow.
