Livingston, strange day!!!!

Typical building in Livingston

Took a boat down the Rio Dulce to Livingston. Really nice views, particularly through the area where we had steep forested cliffs on 1 side of us. Also went through a mangrove swamp which is protected for manatees (didn't see any though). Had a swim in a hot spring on the way.

Livingston famous for the Garifuna local people who live here, and the laid back Caribbean way of life. Unfortunately we reckon the Guatemalans are forcing out the Garifuna as we didn't see too many. Nice buildings there, and had lovely food at Bahias Azul. Rained the night we were there big time - went a whole night without food....

JG FROM E-MAIL UPDATE- Then we came back across the border and headed for Rio Dulce (an absolute dump!) and then we took a fantastic 2 and half hour boat trip to Livingstone. Caribbean style town, loads of Rastas chilling out - man!!! Only stayed their one night as it would not stop raining!
