Teplinsky's Trans Canada Adventure 2010 travel blog

Tues. June 29th:

My last post was actually late Sunday night, June 27th. As many of you already know, we have had to make a temporary change in our itinerary. Monday morning, June 28th, we received a call that our beloved Aunt Grace Sager had passed away. This was unfortunately not unexpected. She has not been doing well for a number of months & we did expect this during our trip. We spent Monday morning making arrangements for Aunt Grace as well as for our emergency return home. The people in Cody, WY were wonderful in helping us out but of course the airlines were more than challenging.

We were able to park the motor home in an overflow area next to the RV Park. A half mile away is the little airport & a half mile from there is the large vet clinic with more than adequate boarding facilities. I am sure Bailey is not happy but this was the easiest for us.

We packed up (we had brought suitcases for this purpose), left the RV refrigerator running on propane gas (which we were able to fill right at the park), drove the car to the airport, no charge for parking & after several hrs on the phone trying to get confirmed seats on the Denver-L.A. leg of the trip, we left Cody, WY with a positive attitude & determination to GET SEATS on that flight! Surviving the stress & anxiety of the day we arrived home at 12:30am. The lady at the Cody airport didn’t even charge us for the checked luggage. The flight cost of course was horrendous. Scruffy the cat was delighted to see us. Cousin Steve Abrams is probably not as thrilled that we are back.

Tues. June 29th:

Spent the morning making more “arrangements”. Spent the afternoon with the granddaughters! Spent the evening making more plans for the Shiva. We have flight reservations to return to Cody on Sat. July2nd. We plan to be in Milwaukee by July 8th at the latest. We will then visit Minneapolis family after Milwaukee while heading up into Canada.

Thanks for all the kind words & messages,

Freya & Allan
