Southern Trip 2010 travel blog

We left home at 9 a.m., made a rest stop at 10:30 a.m., then stopped for lunch at Panera in Columbus, OH at 12:30 p.m. Driving along, Buz passed a couple of slow-moving cars and was stopped by a K-9 cop for speeding. Buz admitted that he was going faster than the speed limit of 55 mph and the cop told him to slow down - no ticket! We stopped again for gas about 4 p.m. and arrived at the Fairfield Inn, Beckley, WV at 5 p.m. Easy drive - just a little snow along the way.

Went to dinner at Outback Steakhouse, which was next door to the hotel. We ordered soups. Our waitress said they were out of the soups we ordered, but the chef was going to make more, so it would be a little while. Turned out it was quite a wait, so they deducted the cost of the soups, which were actually worth the wait. Then, I ordered a filet salad and in a little while, the waitress informed us that the type of filet they used for the salad was no longer available, but they could substitute another type of steak. I said fine and the salad was very good. Because of that, the manager came over to our table, apologized for all the inconvenience, took $3.00 off my salad (additional cost of the original order), offered another round of drinks (2 beers) and took off the cost of the original round of beer. So, our 4 beers, 2 soups, my steak salad and Buz' filet focaccia ended up costing $21.09 - not a bad deal!
