Jasper with Balboa

After our cushy stay in the jungle lodge we headed for the coast - back to reality! En route we stayed one night at the Belize Zoo´s educational centre, in basic jungle huts. The zoo is just outside of Belize City, and is set in the natural jungle environment. All of the animals living at the zoo are native to Belize, and have been either born at the zoo or rescued. That evening we did a nocturnal tour of the zoo, and returned the following morning to view the rest of the creatures. It was amazing to see these animals in their natural setting. A few of the animals we saw were spider and howler monkeys, jaguars, tapirs, crocodiles, gibnuts, and pacas. This was one of Jasper and Kylan´s favorite spots.

After leaving the zoo we hopped on a local bus to Belize City, and caught a water taxi to Caye Caulker.
