New Mayor of Gotham City?

Like Macarthur in the pacific, we returned to our old war-zone the Glitz Capital of the Australia - The Gold Coast. Michelle and I spent 6 lovely years here and boy the place has changed. We had bought the passes to the theme parks, and proceeded to line up with the rest of seething consuming humanity for thrills spills and burgers and fries. There was even a line up to get the beeper that saves you having to line up. Apparently the irony of this was lost on most. Dreamworld has a pager system allowing you to que virtually in the line-ups and it beeps when its your turn to ride. Why they can't have this system for Melbourne traffic is beyond me. "Sorry I was late boss, my traffic beeper went through the wash!" We also took the chance to catch up with many old acquaintances and colleagues from the old days and it was great fun. Many morning teas and lunches later, and even a kid free New Years Eve poker party at Anna and Chris Staples was enjoyed, thanks to the babysitting services of Aunty Jen and Uncle Rob.

In the new year we were joined by a couple of Bairnsdale families, the Beveridges and the Jordans. It was so great to see familiar faces and catch up on news from home but hearing of school and social routines did make us realise that the trip would be over soon enough and that we would be back to "normal life" soon. Saw our fair share of rain on the coast but by this stage we are no longer worshipping the sun and welcome the clouds and the cool.

After two fun filled weeks we were completely exhausted and packed up the van for the last time and headed south into NSW and towards home.
