Manuel turns 73 this next week - still looking good!

Sue hands out hot cocoa and Christmas cheer

And the Christmas tree is lit!

Today was a laid back day, spent visiting with Sue and Manuel in their beautiful, cozy home. John happily got to watch football games during the daylight hours on a big screen tv. We ate too much all day as we laughed and talked and read the Sunday paper.

This evening, we went over to the Bethel Island Community Center where Sue and Manuel were volunteers, helping to serve hot cocoa and a vast variety of cookies to the locals. Santa was there with the high school chorus singing Christmas songs. The community tree was lit up and we ended up eating too many cookies to need dinner.

The weather certainly makes it feel like the Christmas season even if the Christmas spirit hasn't really hit home yet. I actually did get out our little RV size Christmas tree and put it up in the front window with the tiny train which Rocky immediately carried off. It has finally started raining tonight after threatening all day. I talked to friends in Tahoe today who reported frigid temps with predicted heavy snow for next week. We are hoping to visit our previous home, but Old Man Winter may not make it possible. But it is cold all over, not just in California. Zac reported a high of 34 in New Braunfels and it was also reported that snowflakes fell on the beach in Corpus Christi. Thank goodness for snuggy blankets.
