Crean's and the Guys' adventure travel blog

It was still raining in the morning but gradually cleared. More vineyards and small villages- its so pretty at this time of year. Around noon we came across a market at Nyon so stopped and had a goo dbrowse, so tempting - wish we were in a motorhome as we would have had a great buyup of cheeses, meat, salami, bread and patissier delights. Instead we picked up a couple of slices of pork pie and a pastry and picnicked near the river further down the road. Around 4pm we had just passed Gap when we spied a hotel sign with a special deal of E49 a night so headed up the road until we reached Hotel Club. At first glance it looked a pit OTT for us, but on asking we promptly booked in- for E98 we got a nice room, a 3 course dinner with wine, and the hotel facilities included an indoor swimming pool, and a sana, plus fantastic views over about 8 mountains covered in snow! It soon became apparent that and awful lot of the people staying here were in the late 60s/70s. Then we noticed that each day there was tournament of some sort- mahjong, bridge, petanque and so on. Not too sure but we think this is a chain of clubs, and during the off season they offer special deals to retired folks. Anyway it certainly suited us and we had an enjoyable stay. (Also managed to ring Charlee for her 6th birthday-yay!),
