Crean's and the Guys' adventure travel blog

We entered the first lock with some trepidation- but it went well. Our boat went in first followed by Ken´s crew and their larger boat. We, being the first boast, caught the turbulence in front which meant no steerage as we entered but after awhile we got used to hanging back a bit. The locks here are activated by pulling a cord set up across the canal, which in turn turns on a green light when its ready, fairly easy to do.

Today we travelled some 16 kms thru Valaence dÁgen and on to moor just past Pommeric. In the morning we cyceld along the pathway beside the canal and then went into a small village where there was a patisserie so were able to buy fresh bread and cheese. The afternoon found us all on our bikes to cycle 6kms to one of >France´s most attractive villages high on a hill overlooking the old port quarters (called Auvillar) which were very active in the 17th and 18th centuries.
