with the 3 grandchildren for John's birthday yesterday

Well, we looked at the weather forcast and chose a couple of days when the weather looked favourable for our caravan try out at the beach. We were lucky the first day as it was about 18 degrees and lovely and sunny, but the next day the temperature dropped right down, a gale came through and the wind was really roaring through the tree tops above us. However the van was fantastic. We could hear the wind roaring outside but we had a little blow heater inside and it was warm as toast. The van was very stable in the wind and very comfortable. We made up the beds and tried out the double bed the first night and then the second night I tried out kay's bed. I can assure you Kay it is very comfortable and I slept like a log even though the wind was roaring outside. As you can see from the photos we have invested in a small portaloo, it has an 18 litre holding tank but we are not sure how many bladder empties that equates to. No doubt we will find out in due course.

We plan to put up some dividing curtains for privacy whilst using the said portaloo so don't worry Kay.

Whilst we were camped down the road we had a succession of visitors as our friends couldn't believe that we would camp in the middle of Winter down by the beach. Anyway we have now had 8 people at once sitting round in comfort inside having a drink. On our travels it will be warm weather so we will be outside most of the time and space won't be a problem.

The next 3 weeks will be spent provisioning the van and putting the finishing touches to it before we are on our way on 11th Sept. I will back on line then.
